When Jesus returns here
what will He find as His due?
Will they recite from memory
the words of the Holy Scriptures to Him?
Will the earth resonate with "Our Father"
as each one, weary, signs the cross,
while the wealthy churchman, in his pride,
opens his greedy hands in a show of generosity?
What will our Blessed Example see
in a world where the Sacrifice is mocked?
Does not the evil darkness hide the sparks
with the sins of its Babylonian towers?
Two thousand years of Grace,
fruit we gather with such struggle,
and the world, now disheveled,
dismisses Christ, seeking worldly gain.
Whatever You find, our God,
remember, we were Yours at Golgotha,
and with our forsaken servitude
we affirmed ourselves in Your Spirit, down to the dot…
And even when commanded to sorrow,
serving – whether naked or barefoot,
we will not turn our backs on Your call,
for the Cross is carried for a lifetime…
