The fool with a bowl of lentils
repeats the sin of Esau,
feeling no remorse for his wrongs,
believing himself to be in the right.
He openly turns away from the Lord
and seeks his earthly share -
to resemble a fat merchant,
satisfied and rich beyond compare.
He dreams of raising a house
with marble columns, worthy of envy,
and from the church pulpit
to preach the spirit of Edom.
Such cheap delusion -
to sell innocent Blood
and among the descendants of Judah
to be the first to betray.
The earth will gladly praise him,
the flesh will not withstand,
but always in crowded halls,
he’ll count money from the altar's hand.
And the lentils will never run out.
As many heart-bowls as you wish…
A corpse gathers from the carcasses,
and filth piles up from the decay.
The faith of Jacob sighs,
and the shining Bethel mourns,
while hell, with its jaws wide open, waits
for the devastated fates.
For eternity - dry and hot,
fueled by God’s wrath,
the fool with a bowl of lentils
repeats the sin of Esau…
