(I Kneel Before You)
O God, let me with faith unseal my eyes,
My life, by Your own Holy Spirit born;
Grant me to see the starry, wondrous skies
Of Joseph and Mary in the silent morn.
Within that cave where darkness was undone
By radiant light, a glory from above,
Where infant cries beneath the manger shone,
Wrapped in a veil of tender, sacred love.
Let me become the fourth wise man to bring
A gift unto the little Christ so dear—
A heart that breathes His name in worshiping,
And dreams of Him as altar, ever near.
A soul that yearns for Him with honest dread,
A dream that kisses Him with holy fire,
And calls upon His Name, forever fed
By sacred longing and eternal desire.
And when, O God, I find Bethlehem’s grace,
Enfold me in Your Spirit as my shield—
May Joseph and Mary dwell within this place,
And Your Son be the Love that shall not yield.
