(The Vine of Engadi)
“Set me as a seal upon thine heart…”
(Song of Solomon 8:6)
Within my hands I hold your burning flame,
Sparks from your touch, and fire from your word.
A gem’s desire that no tongue can name.
A tablet for the senses yet unstirred.
Within my eyes I hold your sunset shore.
Upon the eyelids lies the magic crest.
Inside your pupils – starry strands that pour,
Like rainbows in the twilight, fully blest.
Within my heart I hold a song sublime.
A single love in melody and tone.
Be as a seal upon my dream and time –
Pure, holy till my final hour is known.
